Worl Literacy Day September 2013

BANGALORE INTERNAITONAL ACADEMY AND  SCEAD Foundation is organizing a march against illiteracy on Monday, 9 September and Tuesday, 10 September at 10 a.m. It will begin in front of Bangalore International Academy in Jayanagar. Students and volunteers will march towards two government schools in Jayanagar.

WE will be collecting all forms of unused stationery such as pens, pencils, notebooks, textbooks, bags, etc., which will be donated to underprivileged students.

we Hide You Seek  (music concert from Swedish pop band)

We hide you seek is a pop band from Gothenburg, Sweden. A band in the landscape of Nordic melancholy and simply feelgood pop

In the cooking music pot of Gothenburg a new interesting band was born in 2009;
We hide you seek.

Starting as a solo project for the band's musical driving force, Anna Dalentoft, the band has later transformed into a more homogenous group where everyone is contributing with their own musical background in the music making progress. With strong song writing ideas from the band's singer Anna Dalentoft, the rest of the band combines very different musical backgrounds to an eclectic mix. The band’s basic members consists of an award winning jazz drummer who’s been touring New Orleans, a power pop guitarist and bassist. The musical span We hide you seek has got, is really something extra. To make it even more interesting the band works with different musicians in different projects to make the songs never stop growing, not loosing the grooving sound picture of the four basic members.

World Population Day 2012: The World at 7 Billion

 Campaign

BIA CAMPAIGN  ON WORLD POPULATION DAY 

 

World Population Day will kick off the 7 BILLION ACTIONS  campaign.

 
The tremendous interest generated by the Day of 5 Billion on 11 July 1987 led to the establishment of World Population Day as an annual event. For more than 20 years, 11 July has been an occasion to mark the significance of population trends and related issues.

This year, as the world population is expected to surpass 7 billion, UNFPA and partners are launching a campaign called 7 Billion Actions. It aims to engage people, spur commitment and spark actions related to the opportunities and challenges presented by a world of 7 billion people.

 

In many ways a world of 7 billion is an achievement: Globally, people are living longer and healthier lives, and couples are choosing to have fewer children. However, because so many couples are in, or will soon be entering, their reproductive years, the world population is projected  to increase for decades to come.  Meeting the needs of current and future generations presents daunting challenges.

Whether we can live together equitably on a healthy planet will depend on the choices and decisions we make now. In a world of 7 billion people, and counting, we need to count each other.
